Obama is dazed, blinded and howling in pain. Sarah’s in charge now.

Damn straight I’m voting for the woman who knocked out a misogynist bully.

Head-to-head, Sarah clobbers Barry. She’s more genuine, a better speaker (!), is way tougher, is able to connect to real people, and, yes, more experienced. The more they attack Palin’s “weaknesses”, the more they expose Barry’s.

Plus, she’s a woman. And despite her conservative views, I personally know several dem, ex-dem, & indie women who’ll be voting for her & McCain, just to stick it to Barry, the DNC & the MSM for their misogyny. Live by the sword, Barry; die by the sword.

From the men, hatred of women, and from Nancy and Donna, hatred of women.
We live in a county where women make up more than 50% the population, why isn’t congress even 10% women? I don’t understand it. I love that my wife is strong and can handle anything that comes her way. We’ve been married and in business together for 19 years spending pretty much 24 hours a day together she is more driven than I and I am grateful for that.

Sarah’s gonna bring it home for the Repubs. I really think so.

Maybe. Being wives, mothers, women, they may have an easier time understanding what it means to actually serve people simply because you really care about them, to have that “servants heart” that Sarah Palin talks about.

But I’ve known male politicians who had it too, who could connect to the little people and make you feel as if you matter. Bill Clinton comes to mind. He’s an incredibly smart man, and yet he never spoke down to people, never talked over their heads. Never gave the impression that you were not worthy of his time.

But ultimately, I believe both Palin and Hillary share a rare political gift, and they both just happen to be female. Their views on some issues are differant, their parties are differant, but they seem to share the same combination of tenacity and empathy that I find so appealing in politicians.

Good grief, I don’t know. Plain old misogyny? Desperation? I can tell you one thing, I’ve tangled with Republicans for years and I have never been subjected to these same kinds of vile personal attacks. The “enemy” has treated me with more respect over the years, then my own party has in the last 18 mos. (Well my former party as of a few weeks ago, I am now an independant supporting a few down ticket Dems and McCain/Palin.)

As my husband and I were watching and listening to Palin the other night, it occurred to us both — nearly simultaneously — that her words, body language and voice inflections were very much like Hillary’s. After the speech we talked about how very different these two women’s speech-making was from the men in this race.

My point: These two women are different from the men in this race. At the risk of sounding like I’m making stereotypical observations, my attraction to Hill and now Sarah *is* based on much of the non-verbal part of her communication and inflective use of her voice. It’s another woman who is talking to me. And, being a woman, I “get” her without having to hear all the details of her speech. But, of course, I am listening to her words, too.

Obama has spent a lot of airtime telling us that he is a “bridge builder” or “builder of cross-cultural relationships”. First, and not really part of my point here, is that I have an enormously hard time understanding how he could think of himself as a cultural moderator given his decidedly middle-to-upper-class upbringing and now his very upper class (economically speaking) status. But beyond that, he has done nothing but talk about his support of women. And as we all know he has done much to denigrate women and especially one woman who has lived the nightmare of being at the mercy of men like bo and worse, the subject of the right wing, for most of her adult life.

I’d like to hear from others on this. Does the fact that Hill and Palin are women make a difference in your perception of their ability to have greater empathy or because they are mothers who have been in their own personal trenches on the many issues of work, family, community and balancing the myriad needs of others against their own needs, give them an edge when understanding the unique challenges of women or simply of others?

Palin has common sense and humility which makes me much less concerned about her decisions. She has empathy for the people she is serving. Hillary had that, too. That “you are not invisable to me.” They both recognize that there are real people at the other end of their words. Palin’s not going to be careless or rash.

Obama on the other hand, has been very careless and full of hubris. A while back he shot off his mouth about bombing Pakistan. People over there hit the streets and started burning US flags in response to his bit of political pandering. Foreign policy is not something you can rearticulate, retract and repeatedly issue statements saying “no, what Obama really meant”. It also took him three times to issue a proper statement on Georgia/Russia. No, no, no, first you get your ducks in a row, then you shoot off your mouth.

Those people out in the streets in nuclear armed Pakistan, did not have the patience to wait for Obama’s final clarification of his statements. Foreign country’s aren’t going to give him the benefit of the doubt and wait patiently until he clarifies his position.
