The more things change the more they stay the same. I waisted some time this evening browsing the acceptance speeches of our Presidential candidates. I found this interesting.
“It’s time to put all America back to work—but not in make-work, in real work. And there is real work in modernizing American industries and creating new industries for America as well. Here are just a few things we’ll rebuild together and build together:
—new industries to turn our own coal and shale and farm products into fuel for our cars and trucks and to turn the light of the sun into heat and electricity for our homes;
—a modern transportation system of railbeds and ports to make American coal into a powerful rival of OPEC oil;
—industries that will provide the convenience of futuristic computer technology and communications to serve millions of American homes and offices and factories;
—job training for workers displaced by economic changes;
—new investment pinpointed in regions and communities where jobs are needed most;
—better mass transit in our cities and in between cities;
—and a whole new generation of American jobs to make homes and vehicles and buildings that will house us and move us in comfort with a lot less energy.”
These are great ideas addressing many of the problems we face today. The problem is this was 28 years ago given at the democratic convention by former President Jimmy Carter.
Campaigns are full of hot air and empty promises. You can’t honestly choose a President based on their campaign rhetoric because when it comes right down to it they never deliver. You have to choose a President by examining their character and their judgment in the decisions they have made in their lives. Using that criteria the only good choice we have in this election is McCain/Palin. barky has shown again and again his judge of character is seriously lacking. Look at his friends, Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Blackwell, Auchi, Pfleger, Meeks, Dean, Pelosi, Brazille et al. Would you trust any of these people, would you count them as your friends? I know I would not. Look at his judgment, has there been a single instance where barky has come out for or against something or perhaps both, that he hasn’t had to come back once, twice, maybe three times and explain (WORM) what he really meant. This wont work when negotiation with foreign governments. He can’t have the media run to Russia and explain to Putin that he misspoke and this is what he really meant.

I’ll take McCain/Palin in 2008 and Hillary in 2012. Let the Republicans clean up their own mess for a change and let the Democrats do some much needed soul searching.
yttik, the 2012 battle will be a great one that I look forward too. Palin against Clinton. If Sarah is a good as her credentials show she is, either way we can’t loose. And that would be a nice change.
