David Kernell, You Got Mail! Enjoy Your Time In Jail!

A federal grand jury has indicted the son of a Democratic Tennessee state lawmaker in connection with the hacking of the e-mail account of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

David Kernell, 20, of Knoxville, Tenn., the son of state Rep. Mike Kernell, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley, according to a statement from the Justice Department.

David Kernell was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Knoxville for intentionally accessing without authorization the e-mail account of Palin, Alaska’s governor, the Justice Department said.

Kernell, an economics major at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a three-year term of supervised release.

His father, a Memphis Democrat, is chairman of Tennessee’s House Government Operations Committee. Mike Kernell has said he had nothing to do with the hacking incident.

Now we all know how this will turn out. Besides the claims from the barky camp saying David is not the student they knew. He wasn’t working for the campaign even though he was following Michelle O’Angry’s words:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone . . . Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual – uninvolved, uninformed.

Seems to me that David was listening to what MO had to say and was trying to do his part for the campaign. Even if it involved breaking the law. I think he should be an honorary member of barky’s CAC don’t you think. But as I said we know how this will turn out, David will get preferential treatment by the courts. If anything he will get a few hours of community service. Probably working a voter registration drive in cemeteries around Tennessee for ACORN.
